Dr. Shelby Thompson-Cutler spent most of her life in Illinois, where she grew up just south of Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois where she met her husband, Cam, and studied Integrative Biology. During this time, she also began her optometric career by working at Summit Vision Source as a technician in-between school years. Following her undergraduate degree, she made her way to St. Louis to study optometry at the University of Missouri.
Her clinical training included several private practices in St. Louis where she focused on general optometry. In addition to private practice, she spent the most time at Washington University in St. Louis, studying ocular diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis, and many corneal degenerations such as keratoconus. She enjoys working with patients of all ages, fitting specialty contact lenses and helping those with all varieties of medical and refractive care.
She is looking forward to being back in the practice that helped her realize her goal of being an optometrist and giving back to the wonderful community of Summit County. When she is not in the clinic, you can find her hiking, spending time with family, doing yoga and of course, watching Chicago sports with her husband and two cats.
